Selo Lumens Output

Not all lumens are the same — and understanding the difference can make all the difference when choosing lighting.

In the lighting market, it’s common to see technical information that looks complete but can be misleading. One of the most frequent examples is the presentation of the lumens from the light source (such as the LED or lamp itself) as if they were the actual lumens that the complete luminaire emits in real conditions.

However, there is an important distinction: source lumens represent the amount of light emitted by the component alone, without being installed inside the luminaire. This value is real and measured, but it does not reflect the natural light loss caused by elements such as lenses, diffusers or structural parts.

By contrast, the real lumens of a luminaire — also called output lumens or Lumens Output — indicate the effective amount of light that reaches the environment with the luminaire fully assembled and in operation.

That’s why Tromilux created the “Lumens Output” label: to clearly identify products where the lumens are measured with the luminaire fully built and working — exactly as it will be used in your project.

What does this label guarantee?

- That the light output values reflect real performance;
- That all measurements are conducted in certified laboratories;
- That products can be compared fairly and transparently.

At Tromilux, we believe transparency is just as important as efficiency. That’s why we want you to have clear and trustworthy information when choosing lighting solutions.
